EDGE is a township in Whitchurch union, 2 miles north from Malpas. Done’s charity of £5 yearly is for distribution in money. The Rev. Charles Wolley-Dod J.P., M.A. is chief landowner and resides at the Hall, an ancient mansion standing in a park of 200 acres, the residence of the Dod family from a very early period. T. W. Tyrwhitt-Drake esq. of Shardeloes, Bucks, is lord of the manor. The area is 1,601 acres; rateable value, £2,841; the population in 1891 was 244.

National School (mixed & infants), erected 1877 by the Rev. C. Wolley-Dod & supported by subscription; it will hold 50 children; average attendance, 28.
