Northcott History
NORTHCOTT, known as Northcott Hamlet, forms a portion of the parish of Boyton, the remainder of which is in Cornwall: it is 4 miles north-west from Tower Hill station on the Launceston branch of the London and South Western railway, 6 north from Launceston and 8 south-west from Holsworthy, in the Western division of the county, Black Torrington hundred, Holsworthy petty sessional division, Launceston union and county court district. Richard Carlyon esq. D.L., J.P. of Polapit Tamar, Launceston, is lord of the manor, and principal landowner. The soil is chiefly light clay; subsoil, clay. The chief crops are wheat, oats and roots. The area is 681 acres; rateable value, £356; the population in 1901 is 34.
By Local Government Board Order 20,640, Issacott, or Hessacott, was transferred to Werrington, Mar. 25, 1888.
