Cadgwith History

CADGWITH is a romantic fishing village, half a mile north-east, partly in this parish and partly in that of Ruan Minor. A life boat is stationed here : a little to the south of the village is an extraordinary natural excavation, called the “Frying Pan,” which has a mean depth of 200 feet and an area of 2 acres, and is reached by the sea at flood-tide.

There is a coast guard station at Cadgwith Cove, connected by telegraph and telephone with the Lizard, and by telephone with Coverack: at Landkeddon, 3 miles eastward, is a branch station; John Doolan, chief boat man in charge, and 7 men.
