The register dates from the year 1558, but is deficient and mutilated to 1568, as well as between 1575—8 and 1590—5, but from this date the entries run on uninterruptedly. The living is a rectory, formerly consolidated with that of Killamarsh and the vicarage of Ridgeway, but separated by an Order in Council, Jan. 4, 1843, net yearly value £450, including 406 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of the Crown, and held since 1894 by the Rev. There are also Free Methodist and Primitive Methodist chapels.
