Foolow History
Foolow, 2 miles west, is an ancient village and township, chiefly inhabited by farmers. Here is a small mission church, built in 1889. In the centre of this village is a stone cross, and there is also a Reformed Methodist chapel. The trustees of Lord Denman, the Rev. Canon C. S. Wright M.A. Benjamin Bagshaw esq. of Sheffield, the trustees of the late Samuel Bagshaw esq. Charles Eyre Bradshaw Bowles esq. and John Thornhill esq. are the principal landowners. The acreage is 978; rateable value, £986; the population in 1891 was 152.
