Irishcombe History
IRISHCOMBE, formerly a detached portion of this parish, adjoining those of West Worlington and Meshaw, 9 miles north-east from Lapford and 1 ½ south-east from Meshaw, was annexed for civil purposes to Meshaw, March 25th, 1885, under the provisions of the “Divided Parishes Act, 1882,” by Local Government Board Order, 16,345. 11,738 for a considerable time the property and residence of the Notts, who sold it in 1770, and formed part of Court Manor, in Lapford, to which it still pays a fee. T. G. Keats esq. is the owner of Irishcombe, and Major H. T. Vialls of Irishcombe Moor.
