Healeyfield History

Healeyfield is a township in the parish of Lanchester, forming part of the ecclesiastical parish of Castleside, 6 ½ miles west, near Castleside and Rowley station on the Consett and Darlington railway. There are but a few farms and some lead mines in this township. The Ecclesiastical Commissioners are the lords of the manor. The principal landowners are the Healeyfield Mining Co. The soil is sandy; subsoil, gravel and stone.
