The church of St. Mary, supposed to have been first built in the 12th century, is an edifice of stone, consisting of chancel, nave of three bays, north aisle, vestry, south porch and a western tower with wooden spire, containing a clock and 3 bells: there are two stained windows in the chancel, erected in memory of Mary Sharpe, wife of a former vicar. The church was completely restored in 1870 at a cost of £2,000, when the high pews and the gallery were removed, and a north aisle, organ chamber and vestry added. The register dates from the year 1598.
