The parish is governed, under the provisions of the “Local Government Act, 1894” (56 and 57 Vict. ch. 73), by an Urban District Council of 15 members, formed by Local Government Board Order No. 43,476, which came into operation April 1, 1902.

Foots Cray parish and a portion of Chislehurst were formed into an ecclesiastical district by Order in Council, 20th March, 1863. The church of All Saints is of flint and stone in the Perpendicular style, and has a turret with spire containing five bells: several of the windows are stained, and there is a Norman font; a monument to Sir Roger de Vaughan and his wife, with effigies of both and a brass to Thomas Myton, formerly rector here, 1489: the church has 200 sittings: in the churchyard is an iron monument to Martin Manning, 1665. The register dates from the year 1650. The living is a rectory, net yearly value £180, with residence and 21 acres of glebe, in the gift of the Lord Chancellor, and held since 1861 by the Rev. The Baptist chapel here, erected in 1840, has sittings for 300 persons. Foots Cray Place, a Palladian villa, the property of Capt. R. A. Vansittart, has attached grounds of 100 acres, and is the residence of S. J. Waring esq. The trustees of Mrs. Baugh are lords of the manor; and Capt. The population in 1891 was 3,487 of the civil parish, and in 1901, 5,817, and 1,257 the ecclesiastical parish; the area of the parish is 758 acres of land and 4 of water; rateable value, £40,380.
