Well is a detached hamlet and chapelry district next Littlebourne, on the west side of the river, and formerly belonged to that parish, but has for many years been annexed to the parish of Ickham. The ruins of the chapel may still be seen. The Manor House, usually called Well Court, stood close to the bank of the river and was formerly the property of the Cliffords.
