Torworth History

TORWORTH is a village and township on the Great North road, in the parish of Blyth and union of East Retford, 1 mile south-west from Ranskill station and 2 miles east from Blyth. The Wesleyan Methodists have a place of worship. Viscount Galway is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The acreage is 1,377; assessable value, £2,701; the population in 1901 was 213.

Public Elementary School (Torworth) (mixed), erected in 1878, for 50 boys, 50 girls & 50 infants; average attendance, 49 boys, 37 girls & 47 infants.
