The Nottingham and Grantham canal passes through the parish. The church of all Saints is a stone building in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, clerestoried nave of four bays, south porch and an embattled tower at the west end with octagonal spire, and containing a clock and 5 bells, dating from 1614: the font and church plate are modern: there are mural monuments to William Janson, of Cotgrave Place (1800), and to Catherine Browne (1813), and a brass in the chancel to the Ven. John Henry Browne, archdeacon of Ely, for about 45 years rector of this parish, d.1858. In 1878 the church was restored, new windows inserted in the chancel, the ceilings removed and the interior repewed, at a cost of £1,500, of which sum Earl Manvers contributed £1,000; a new organ chamber and vestry has been added on the north side and an oak reredos erected; the church affords 350 sittings. The register dates from the year 1559 for all entries and is in good condition. A. of Jesus College, Cambridge. Here are Wesleyan and United Methodist chapels, capable of holding 400 persons. Cotgrave rural library, containing about 1,600 volumes, was established in 1850. Cotgrave Place, a large square white house, standing in a park of 50 acres, and in the occupation of Mr. albert Armitage, is the property of Earl Manvers, lord of the manor, and chief landowner.
