Blaxton History
BLAXTON (or Blakistone) is a township and village on the borders of Nottinghamshire, in the parish of Finningley (Notts), about 6 miles south-east from Doncaster, and ¼ from the Finningley station, in Doncaster soke, union and county court district. Children attend Finningley school. The Wesleyan have a chapel here. John Harvey esq. is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The soil is sand and gravel and partly clay; subsoil, gravel. The chief crops are wheat, barley, rye, oats and turnips. The area is 1,649 acres; rateable value, £2,480; and the population in 1871 was 171.
