Styrrup History

STYRRUP is on the borders of Yorkshire, partly in Blyth, but chiefly in Harworth parish. Viscount Galway, who is lord of the manor, the trustees of Shrewsbury Hospital and John Jubb esq. are the principal landowners The Wesleyan Methodists have a chapel here. The area is 3,040 acres of land, chiefly arable, and 6 of water; rateable value, £3,647; the population in 1901 was 481.

STYRRUP-WITH-OLDCOTES (or Alcoates) forms a township, partly in the parish of Blyth, but chiefly in that of Harworth.
