E. Davis esq. F.S.A, architect, of Bath, at a cost of £500, when a fine oak roof, dating probably from the 15th century, was discovered on the removal of the plaster ceiling: the stained east window was presented by the architect: there are 100 sittings. The register dates from the year 1649. The living is a rectory, net yearly value £150, including 27 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of the Lord Chancellor, and held since 1877 by the Rev. Frederick O’Melia B.A. of Trinity College, Dublin. In 1888 the remains of a Roman villa were discovered near the church, and also a stone coffin containing a skeleton; outside the coffin were found the skeletons of two men and a horse.
