The river Avon, here crossed by a stone bridge, skirts the southern boundary of the parish, and a tributary to the Avon, which rises in the Lansdown hills, flows through the village. The register dates from the year 1538. The living is a vicarage, net yearly value £290, including 15 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of the Lord Chancellor, and held since 1901 by the Rev.
