The village is lighted with oil lamps, the expenses being defrayed by subscription. The church of St. Margaret is a small but ancient edifice, faced with pebbles, in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, north and south porches and an embattled western tower containing a clock and 5 bells: the east window and others are stained: in 1872 the chancel was restored at a cost of £207, and the nave at a cost of £900: in 1891 a new organ was erected, a stone pulpit presented by Alfred Youngman esq. and the church lighted with lamps at the expense of the present rector, the total amount expended being about £400: there are 200 sittings.
