The church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, and mentioned in Domesday Book, is an edifice of native stone, in the Norman and Early English styles, and consists of chancel, nave with arcades of four arches, aisles, west porch, and a tower on the north side with pinnacles and shingled spire, and containing 6 bells: the church originally consisted of a nave only, and the upper part of the west doorway, in plain Norman work, still remains; to this nave a chancel and transept were added in the Early English style: in the south aisle is a marble monument to Henry Ludlow, his wife and three daughters, dated 1630; and there are others to the Sparkes and Barrett families: in 1877 a carved pulpit was given by her husband in memory of Mrs. Mary Isabelle Weston: the church was twice enlarged, reseated and improved during the incumbency of the late vicar, and the north aisle was built by the late Mrs. Sutherland in 1850, when the rest of the church was reseated and restored by the parish: a south aisle with stained windows, into which the south transept is thrown, was built by the late Mrs. Bumpsted, of Gosden, to the memory of her husband, the Rev. J. J. Bumpsted; the organ, given by F. A. C. Godwin Austen esq. of Shalford House, and the vestry was enlarged in 1888, at a cost of £100; the church contains about £500 sittings, of which about half are free.
