Compton History

Compton, about 1 ½ miles south east and near Waverley, is a tithing of this parish, on the bank of the Brook, which runs from the Holt by Rowledge to Moor Park, where it joins the river Wey: the place contains a few scattered houses to the west of Waverley: a Sunday afternoon service is held here at 3 o’clock by the clergy of the parish church.
