Farleton History
FARLETON is a township and village in the parish of Beetham, adjoining the road from Kendal to Lancaster, on the Kendal and Lancaster canal, 3 miles north-east from Burton and Holme railway station, 2 east-by-south from Milnthorpe railway station, both on the London and North Western railway, in the Kirkby Lonsdale county court district. Lady Henry Bentinck, of Underley Hall, and Jacob Wakefield esq. of Sedgwick House, Kendal, are the principal landowners. The area is 1,985 acres of land and 19 of water; rateable value, £1,320; the population in 1901 was 91.
