Docker History
DOCKER is a township, 3 miles south-west from Grayrigg railway station and 4 ½ north-east from Kendal. Mr. John B. Farrer, of Lambrigg, is the principal landowner. The Earl of Lonsdale is lord of the manor and chief landowner. The soil is loam; subsoil, clay. The chief crops are oats and barley. The area is 1,370 acres of land and 2 of water; rateable value, £2,543; the population in 1901 was 77. The children of this township attend the schools at Grayrigg.
