Bewick History
BEWICK is a hamlet, 1 mile north from Aldbrough, and contains 788 acres, divided into three farms, the property of St. Thomas’ Hospital, London. Bewick Hall, now in the occupation of Mr. Edmond Walgate, farmer, is an ancient structure bearing the date 1636; the wings of the house date from 1788; close to the hall is a large mound surrounded by a moat.
