Easthorpe History

EASTHORPE is a hamlet, 3 ½ miles west from Malton. Easthorpe Hall is the residence of the Hon. Francis Herbert Dawnay, Rosalind Frances, Dowager Countess of Carlisle is lady of the manor and chief landowner. The soil is limey and clayey; the subsoil, oolitic limestone and clay. The chief crops are wheat, oats and barley.
