James Willoughby, 64 years vicar of this parish, who died February 10th. 1816, aged 85: beneath the communion table is a singular slab bearing a cross and the name of Thomas Milner; the west wall bears a monument with arms and crest to the memory of the Rev. Richard Sowray, rector of Catton, vicar of Askham and parson of Bilborough (1755). The register dates from the year 1579, and is in excellent condition.
