HOPE is a township, about 4 miles from the parish church, situated on the hills, and consists of farm houses situated very widely apart and contains 2,594 acres, the property of George Thomas Gilpin-Brown esq. of Sedbury Park, who is also lord of the manor; rateable value, £570; the population in 1911 was 23.
