Salterforth History
Salterforth is a township, half a mile south of the parish church, with a population of 396, and 1,762 acres; rateable value, £2,163 16s. 8d. Here are extensive limestone quarries. There is a Mission school church, which is also used as a National school under Government inspection. The principal landowners are J. W. Wasney esq. and the trustees of E. S. Bracewell esq. Post Office Pillar Box cleared at 4.0 p.m.
