Little Smeaton History

LITTLE SMEATON is a township in the parish of Birkby, 3 miles east from Cowton station. There are several tumuli in this neighbourhood and some remains of an ancient camp; Roman remains have been found at various times. M. H. Horsfall esq. J.P. is the principal landowner. The area is 1,001 acres; rateable value, £847; the population in 1911 was 70.
