Streethouses History

Streethouses, a small hamlet, taking its name from the Roman road which runs here, is partly in the township of Steeton and partly in the parish of Bilbrough, 3 miles north-east from Tadcaster. Colonel Fairfax, of Bilbrough Hall, is sole landowner. The soil is loam and clay; subsoil clay. There is some good grazing pasture.
