Byram-cum-Poole History
Byram-cum-Poole is a township in the parish of Brotherton, consisting of Byram Hall, the seat of Sir John William Ramsden bart. M.P. a handsome modern stone mansion, standing in a spacious and well-wooded deer park, 1 mile north-north-east from the parish church, one farm, a few cottages, and the small hamlet of Poole, a mile and a half north-east from the parish church. Sir J. W, Ramsden M.P. is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The township contains about 823 acres; rateable value, £1,012; and the population in 1871 was 74.
