Kexborough History

Kexborough is a township and small village, in the parish of Darton, situated on an eminence, 4 miles northwest from Barnsley, and a mile west from Darton, in the union of Penistone. Here is a Township school, with a small endowment left by John Silvester, held in a school-room built in 1855, on land given by W. B. Beaumont esq. M.P. who also aided the subscription for the building, and contributes annually to its support. Kexborough was a Roman station.
