Timble Great History

Timble Great is a township and village in the parish of Fewston, 6 miles north-west from Otley and 1 ½ from Fewston. The Duke of Devonshire is lord of the manor. The principal landowners are Messrs. George Lister, John Yeadon, John Bramley and William Beecroft. The soil Is clayey; the subsoil is clay and rock. The area is 1,566 acres; rateable value, £1,822; and the population (1871) 187.

Gill Beck 1 ½ miles, Timble Ings 1 mile, and White Cragg half-a-mile are places in this township.
