Hutton Hang History
HUTTON HANG (or High and Low Hutton) is a township 1 mile south from Finghall. The township gives name to the two wapentakes of Hang West and Hang East and is partly situated in the latter. Hector Christie esq. of Jervaulx Abbey, is lord of the manor and sole landowner. The soil is various and the chief crops are barley, oats and wheat. The township contains 590 acres in two farms; rateable value, £652; the population in 1911 was 31.
