Barforth History
BARFORTH is a township in Teesdale union, on the banks of the Tees, on the confines of the county, about 2 ½ miles north from Forcett. The impropriate tithe amounts to £350. The Earl of Harewood K.C.V.O. is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The area is 1,689 acres of land and 50 of water; rateable value, £1,791; the population in 1911 was 124.
