Alwoodley History
Alwoodley is a township in the parish of Moor Allerton, 6 miles south-east from Otley and 5 ½ north from Leeds, in the union of Wharfedale. The Leeds Water Works Co. are building an extensive reservoir near here. George Lane Fox esq. is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The soil is light; the subsoil, sandy. The chief crops are oats, barley and turnips. The area is 1,510 acres; rateable value, £5,413; population (1871) 136.
