Weardley History
Weardley is a township in the parish of and adjoining Harewood, 7 miles east from Otley, 3 ½ from the Arthington station on the North Eastern railway, in Wetherby union, and upper division of the wapentake of Skyrack. The Earl of Harewood is lord of the manor and sole landowner. The soil is light; subsoil, sandy and rock. The chief crops are wheat, oats, barley and much land is in pasture. The area is 840 acres; rateable value, £1,603; population (1871) 157.
