Ilton-cum-Pott History
ILTON-CUM-POTT is a township in the Bedale union. The village of Ilton is 3 miles south-west, and Pott is about 6 miles west of Masham, and is under the control of that Urban District Council. Church of England services are held at Ilton and Pott on alternate Sundays. There is a Wesleyan chapel, erected in 1876. Lord Masham is lord of the manor and chief landowner. The soil is stony and gravelly; subsoil, stony. The land is principally pasture and meadow. The acreage is 3,015.; rateable value, £2,063; the population in 1911 was 194. The farms are scattered and principally moorland.
