Osgodby History

OSGODBY is a village and township, 1 mile north-west from Hemingbrough station and 1 west from Cliffe Common station in the parish of and 3 miles north-west from Hemingbrough and 2 ½ north-east from Selby, in the Selby union. The tithe amounts to £75, and is impropriated. Riley Briggs esq. of Osgodby Hall, is lord of the manor and chief landowner. The land is good field warp, strong and light. The chief crops are grass, oats, wheat, barley and roots. The area is 1,558 acres of land and 2 of water; rateable value, £2,987; the population in 1911 was 206.
