South Duffield History
SOUTH DUFFIELD is a village and township in the parish of and 2 miles north from Hemingbrough, and 5 east from Selby in Selby union. Here is a Wesleyan chapel, built in 1824. The land belongs to several owners. The soil is chiefly dark sand. The chief crops are oats, wheat, barley &c. The area is 1,684 acres of land, 1 of water, 1 of tidal water and 1 of foreshore; rateable value, £1,925; the population in 1911 was 177.
