Scotton History

SCOTTON is a township and village, formerly in the parishes of Catterick and Patrick Brompton, but under the provisions of an Order in Council, issued in 1897, it is now wholly included in this parish, and is 1 ½ miles south from Hipswell and 4 ½ south-east from Richmond.

Scotton Hall is the seat of Miss Stevenson, who is lady of the manor and principal landowner. The area is 1,406 acres; rateable value, £1,263; the population in 1911 was 97.
