BELBY is a small township a mile and a half north-east from Howden. The impropriate tithe amounts to £5. There are no manorial rights. Marmaduke Athorpe esq. of Dinnington Hall, Rotherham, is the principal landowner: The township consists of two farms comprising 582 acres; rateable value, £529; the population in 1911 was 20.
