Earswick History
EARSWICK is a small township and village, situated on the east bank of the river Foss, with a station about 1 ½ miles from the village on the Market Weighton branch of the North Eastern railway, partly in the parish of Huntington and partly in that of Strensall, 3 ½ miles north-north-east from York. Robert Charles de Grey Vyner esq. is lord of the manor; the landowners are numerous. The area is 749 acres of land and 2 of water; rateable value, £954; the population in 1911 was 135.
