Spurn Head History
SPURN HEAD, or Spurn Point, is a low headland of gravel and sand, accumulated by the sea and wind; on the point are two lighthouses, one of which has been converted into a powder magazine; the one in use is under the management of the Trinity House, London. There are cottages for a few seamen who have charge of the life-boats, and in one of these is a room from which telegraphic communication is maintained with Hull.
Public Elementary School, Spurn Head (mixed), erected in 1891, for 40 children; average attendance, 13.
