Galphay is a hamlet, in the township of Azerley, 4 miles north-west from Ripon, and in the parish of Kirkb -Malzeard. There is a Wesleyan chapel here. Galphay Cottage, a pretty villa midway between Hackfall and Studley, is the residence of Miss Coates.
