The parish includes the townships of Kearby-with-Netherby, Kirkby Overblow, Rigton, Sicklinghall and the chapelry of Stainburn. The parish church of All saints, made collegiate previously to 1364, for a provost and four chaplains, is a stone building, of different periods of Gothic (the north transept being of the 13th century), and consists of chancel, nave, south aisle, north transept and square tower containing 3 bells and a clock: the church was repaired in 1781 and again restored in 1872, under the supervision of G. E. Street esq. at a cost of £1,185, raised by voluntary contributions, and on January 30th. 1872, it was re-opened for divine service by the Bishop of Ripon: the old square deal pews have been superseded by handsome and substantial benches of pitch pine; two new windows have been made in the north wall of the nave, the tower arch and west window thrown open and a new chancel arch built; the chancel now contains two rows of stalls for the choir, a handsome altar cloth having been also provided; the old ceiling has been replaced by an open root and a stone pulpit, executed-by Mr. Thomas Freeman of Sicklinghall, erected at the north-cast end of the nave; the doors have been renewed and the windows glazed; the church will now seat 321 persons, all the sittings being free: a piscina still remains in the north transept, and on the outside of the north wall can be traced the old excommunication doorway, now built up; the oldest and largest bell is dated 1634, and the others respectively 1769 and 1798, one of which bears the inscription “God is my defence,” but the inscriptions on the rest are not legible. The register dates from the year 1647 and is in an excellent state of preservation. The living is a rectory, yearly value £944, arising from rent charge and glebe lands, with residence, in the gift of Lord Leconfield, and held by the Rev.
