Newsham History
NEWSHAM is a township and village, 3 ½ miles northwest from the church; the land is to some extent fertile, but a great portion is wood and moor land. Here is a Church Mission-room and a small Wesleyan chapel.
Sir Powlett Charles John Milbank bart. of Norton Manor, Radnorshire, who is lord of the manor, and Godolphin Henry Vane Milbank esq. of Stutton Lodge, Stutton, Ipswich, are the principal landowners. The area is 3,411 acres; rateable value, £2,985; the population in 1911 was 248.
