Cotness History

COTNESS is a township on the river Ouse, 1 ¼ miles south-east from Saltmarshe station and 7 east-by-south from Howden, and consists of two farms. The area is 542 acres of land, 39 of tidal water and 52 of foreshore; rateable value, £650; the population in 1911 was 26. Mrs. Simpson, of Metham, is the chief landowner.
