The church of the Holy Trinity, erected in 1843, at a cost of £2,525, in place of an ancient structure of the Early English period, dedicated to St. Faith, is a building of stone in the Gothic style, consisting of chancel, nave of four bays, south aisle, south porch and a low western tower containing 4 bells and a clock, placed in 1901, at a cost of £115. in commemoration of the Coronation of His late Majesty King Edward VII.; the site was given by the late Richard Bethell esq. of Rise Park: the chancel contains a piscina brought from the old church and a fragment of a fine rood cross of the Late Decorated period, discovered in the churchyard in 1836 by the sexton, Robert Stead, and bearing on one side a group of the “Crucifixion,” and on the other figures of the Blessed Virgin and Child and two saints: here also are memorial windows to the Rev. Canon Wray, late rector, d. 1878, and to his sister, d. 1879, their united ages amounting to 190 years; the stained east window was erected by the Rev. William Wray M.A. as a memorial to his mother; in the aisle is a memorial window to John Bainton Harrison esq. of Heigholme Hall, erected by Capt. W. H. Preston: in 1877 the church was lighted by hanging lamps, at a cost of £70, and in 1880 the west gallery was removed under a faculty, and an organ built at an expense of £200: in 1900 a memorial brass was placed in the church to Herbert Hebb, a volunteer who lost his life during the South African war: in 1903 the floor of the sanctuary was relaid after a design by Mr. F. S. Brodrick, the diocesan architect, and new altar rails of oak with brass standards placed in the chancel, at a cost of about £75: there are 400 sittings. The register dates from the year 1653. The living is a rectory, net yearly value £750, including 389 acres of glebe, with residence, in the gift of A. Staveley esq. of Tibthorpe, and held since 1911 by the Rev.
