Ellington History
ELLINGTON (High and Low, or Over and Nether), are two small villages, forming one township, in Leybura union and county court district, 2 ½ miles northwest from Masham. The Wesleyans have a chapel at High Ellington. Lord Masham is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The soil is gravelly; subsoil, gravel and clay. The chief crops are barley, oats and turnips. The area is 1,936 acres of land and 10 of water; rateable value, £1,749; the population in 1911 was 127.
