Linton-upon-Ouse History
LINTON-UPON-OUSE is a township and pleasant village in the parish of Newton-upon-Ouse, and is 1 mile west from that place, in the union and county court district of Easingwold. The whole of the property in this township belongs to University College, Oxford, who are also lords of the manor. The area is 2,294 acres of land and 28 of water; rateable value, £2,423; the population in 1911 was 235.
Church school, erected in 1871 at a cost of 1,600, with master's house attached, for 60 children; average attendance, 41; the chaplaincy, which is in the gift of University College, Oxford, has been held since 1893 by the vicar of Newton.
The school committee consists of 4 foundation managers & 1 appointed by the parish & 1 by the county authority.
