Kingthorpe History
KINGTHORPE is a township in the parish of Pickering, 3 miles north-east from Pickering. Kingthorpe Hall is the seat of Mrs. Ashton, who is lady of the manor and the principal landowner; it is a plain building standing about 340 yards off the high road, and the park contains about 40 acres, 4 of which are plantation. The soil is limy and sandy; the subsoil, limestone, rock and freestone. The chief crops are wheat, oats and barley. The area is 1,210 acres; rateable value, £858; the population in 1911 was 42.
